Pros
- We used naturalistic lighting in scenes in which we wanted the audience to see everything in the scene. In shots which we wanted the attention to be on a certain thing, we dimmed the light and made sure the audience can see exactly what we want them to see.
- The costumes worn were effective. We made the villain in the film wear black, dark clothes as the stereotypical bad guy will be in dark clothes. Conversely, the protagonist in the trailer is placed in work clothes and can this shows to the audience that he is good. Also it allows the audience to relate to it even more as they could place themselves in the man's shoes.
- Positioning of characters helped show the audience the power of the characters. In our last shot it is clear to see that the villain is standing over the inferior man in his chair. By placing him above him it shows that the villain has the power.
- At times the setting doesn't always look like it is a typical horror location. This can limit the audiences belief of the narrative but we feel that it still works well.
- Due to our small budget and lack of facilities, filming in the dark was very hard. We actually filmed plenty of footage outside but once we uploaded it to the computer, it was obvious we wouldn't be able to use it. If we could have access to the cameras which allow filming to take place in low lit areas, it would of enabled us to include plenty more footage from outside the house.
- The costume worn by the villain looks fine, but people who know the actors personally, may be able to identify them. This may damage the narrative of the trailer.
What would we do differently?
- We would use more outside shots which would help make the whole trailer more tense. Also it would help build tension throughout the trailer.
- The costume for the villain took a long time to decide. If we had more time and money we would design a mask for him to wear, making him a lot more daunting.
- Could use a more vary of lighting, such as special effects and spotlights. Will improve the narrative and help give our desired effect to the audience.
