Avatar Poster Analysis
Avatar is a 2009 American science fiction epic film written and directed by James Cameron. The film is set in the year 2154. The film broke several box office records during its release and became the highest grossing film of all time. However some people believe this because of the extra charge when shown in 3D.
The poster shows both of the main characters in the film. The humans face covers the alien face representing that the male is in control (saviour) and that there paths could cross. The character has a blue light shining on them meaning depth and stability. It also could mean intelligence, heaven or loyalty. Her eye is shown in a different colour yellow to show energy from within. It also means that she sees things differently to what he actually sees.
The moon is a big part of the picture but also a sunset is shown. This could mean that when both are shown doesn't ever happen on earth so this symbolises a diffrent planet. The sunset also shows a romantic side to the poster.
By having the other films that James Cameron has directed makes the audience understand who this person is and if they enjoyed these films previously then they would want to see this film.
At the bottom it says shown in IMAX 3D, this is also another reason that an audience will want to go see it as 3D is new to this generation which makes people more intrigued in wanting to see the film.
What looks like floating islands is shown in the background however it is shown in the shadows, this is so that the audience don't actually know what it is but want to find out so its partially hidden for when the audience actually see it. What seems like a dragon with a person on it is shown at the bottom. This again is hidden by a shadow so the audience don't know what it actually is and the only way to find out is by having seen the film.
Avatar's title is shown in the font Paprus which is actually the font that we are using for our film title funnily enough. However this title is edited in a sky blue tone to represent sky and the sea which represents a calm side.
