Magazine front cover - Research and Planning

In our coursework we have to create our own magazine front cover. To get some ideas i have looked at some of the most popular front cover. One of the main British film posters that is published monthly in the UK. Here are some of the front covers.

In the first front cover it has the film wolverine (XMEN) with the actor Hugh Jackman. The background of the cover is a sea and the sky. The idea of it being blue reflects the meaning of mystery, action, and powerful. Having several titles around the magazines makes the audience read about whats in the magazine. Having the magazine name in red makes it stand out above the rest represents death, blood and love.
Hugh Jackman is represented as a male, powerful and dominant character on the cover. Having him wear casual clothes makes the character resemble to any normal male which makes readers relate to him. The shot is from a lower angle which makes the character look powerful. The blades coming from his fists have a shine on them to make them significant. This shows how this male is different from a normal human being.
Having the website on the page gives the audience better information on other films throughout the month.
Having some of the writing faded and some black makes the film posters key topics stand out.

The second poster of Heath Legder has a continuous pattern of the colour Green. This reflects the joker by him being jealous, envious and evil. The title Empire is a main brand so therefore it is a big title so to catch peoples eye to relate to it. On the top it says that there are two covers to collect. By having this will make buyers want to spend even more money on having a different cover. The other cover has Batman on it.
Having a close up shot of the joker makes the audience scared which reflects the jokers personality being evil. Having black eyes relates to death & murder and having red lips relates to blood and death which overall reflects his character.
