Empires Issue October 2009 was the chart topping awarding winning avatar special. Avatar now at the top of the grossing charts of all time. This magazine issues theme colour was the colour blue. This comes from the characters being that colour.
Generic conventions of this cover are

• Gold- The colour used is made to look importanat and special. This intises buyers
  
• Having at the top amazing world exclusive makes the issue feel even more important
  
• More pictures at the bottom of the magazine show things that are included in the magazine which lets people know what they are buying
  
• Having the directors name is usually only shown if the director has films that were successful and well known making the audience attract to this cover
  
• The website address is at the top giving buyers another way to access infomation.
  
• Having it on a black background makes everything on the cover stand out. For example the green eyes show mystery and the unkown which allures the audience in.
  
• The barcode is included in the image making it look more realistic. We should include this on our cover also.
