Evaluation Of Poster - Evaluation

With the final part of our marketing campaign for Welcome To The Neighbourhood, I can analyze the poster. We studied many different posters, including horror ones to see how they have designed theirs.
  • The main selling point of the film is made the centre point of the poster. By placing the scary character in the centre of the poster it grabs the audiences attention and asks them the question why is he standing there with an axe.
  • The positioning of the man to the house is very clever as he is shown as much bigger than the house. This makes him look like he has power over the people inside the house. It also continues the theme of the trailer with the mysterious hooded man having the power other the couple.
  • To make it seem scary and like a horror poster we darkened it and made the jacket worn by the killer more ragged, something like a traditional killer would wear.
  • With the tag line being quite sincere we changed the colouring of the text to red to symbolize death and make the poster a horror one.
  • By not stating an exact date it will keep the audience on the edge of their seats waiting for the date of release.
  • Finally the sky line used is dark and looks very depressing. This is the usuall weather you would expect to see in a horror film.
This poster fits in perfectly with the other ancillary tasks and brings it all together to make a unique and very tidy marketing campaign.
