Analysis of Vision
Vision is a 2009 film directed by Jamie Hooper and stars Axelle Carolyn. I choose this trailer because I think it has a lot to say about even though there are no actual clips from the film.
It begins with a disconnected signal from a television. It then has a distorted mini second flash of an image. All you can see is red and can’t picture anything. This distorted picture continues whilst zooming into the picture. This then moves up and down the screen emphasising trying to get a signal. It also has a clicking sounds again emphasising trying to get a signal. It comes up with a vivid image of the director’s name with blood splattered against it. It then comes up with a shaky image of a dark shadow. It continuous with more flicker images.
After this it has a title sequence: ‘Once you press play, there’s no escape, you can only witness’ this has a blood splatter on each. This shows the film will be gory, have murders and probably lots of violence. It then has VISION upon the screen moving towards you. It flickers giving a representation of a light bulb breaking representing darkness.
You can relate this to films like the ring; this may use intertextuality throughout the film also borrowing from other films. I liked this teaser trailer because it didn’t give anything away so this made me want to watch it.
However it would be nice for some more information on the film.
